Malawi Mzuzu

$10.00

Like its neighbor to the north, The D.R. of Congo, Malawi has been overshadowed as a major coffee producer by the more popular East African exporters. However, this does not detract from the quality or taste of these great beans whose environment and growers makes them special in the world of coffee. This specific Malawi is from the Mzuzu region and is fair trade certified and produced by several smaller co-ops in Northern Malawi where volcanic soils and high elevations make ideal conditions for bourbon varieties of coffee.

The coffee is produced by small farms and co-ops who then collectively mill. wash and export the beans. Exports stay on the smaller side as these Malawi farmers are mostly growing in small lots, and the group has been unionized to make sure producers receive their share.
